Blog Swap! Do’s & Don’t’s of Traveling With Groups!

It’s BLOG SWAP day! I know how excited you guys are. After you’re done reading here be sure to head over to my blog to see what Kaitlyn is talking about today! I’m over here still trying to come down off the highs of vacations, and back into the lows of reality…

I don’t think in the four years of dating, the boyfriend and I have taken a vacation just the two of us. Yes, we’re weird like that. We’re both very social, and we would just rather take the party with us rather than find the party! So we’ve always traveled in groups. Usually it’s just with Kaitlyn and Nick, but some trips end up with much larger groups! This last trip to Maui was a group of 7 of us. Not too big, but just big enough!

There’s always something you discover when traveling with a larger group of friends, so I’m here to give you the do’s and don’t’s of traveling with your buds!

Don’t feel the need to agree with every suggestion/decision. Some of the guys want to go snorkeling and you just want to lay on the beach? Lay on the beach! People are jumping off of rocks and you’re a scaredy cat? Offer to take the pictures or film everyone else! Want to hike up to a waterfall and some of the games want to lay down some game? Hike up there and check it out! It’s everyone’s vacation so do what you want because it’s your vacation too and that doesn’t mean you have to make sacrifices.

Do chip in for groceries, cab rides, drinks, etc. Sharing everything in a large group can be hard. But the rules are pretty simple. They buy a case of beer one day, you buy one the next day. There doesn’t need to be a shuffling of who owes who how many pennies. We’re all adults here.

Don’t overstay your welcome. If you have your own room, stay in your own room. Yeah, it’s not always fun yo break up the party, but if everyone is looking tired and yawning, then it’s time to head out. You don’t have to go home, but you sure as hell can’t stay here!

Do share your sunscreen. Do you know why? Because that one day you end up on the beach without your sunscreen you don’t want to fry. Let people use your sunscreen so when you’re in a jam, they’ll offer up theirs!

Don’t assume you all need to go together to do anything and everything. Not everything needs to be a group activity everyday. Don’t be afraid to do your own thing. Like a date night! There’s nothing wrong with wanting a little romantic time with your honey.

Do establish how to split things up. If you all go out to dinner be sure to let your server know how to split the bill before you get to into the while dining experience! With Kaitlyn and Nick, it’s easy. We just all throw down our cards and split it evenly. The key to this…if someone orders a second drink then we all get a second drink!

Just a few tips and tricks for the larger group of travel buddies! Do you ever travel in a big group? How do you deal?

  1. Beautiful photos, especially the one in Iao Needle and the beach. I haven’t tried traveling in big groups, but it sounds really fun. Great trips. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  2. Reblogged this on How To Get Things Done in 10 Ways and commented:

    Happy Friday!
I wanted to share a blog swap I did with miss Kaitlyn a while back about traveling in groups. Sometimes it can be a blast and others time can prove to be a little bit more difficult.

It’s definitely important to keep in mind that it is still your trip, your vacation too! So do what you want!
