Guest Blogger: Summer Wardrobe Essentials

With summer heating up, I thought today I’d share my personal go to summer staples. For instance, I love white jeans with a cute top or I am obsessed with the over-the-shoulder look right now. I have my favorites and each year I build on what I like. In past years, I just wanted to have everything but now my motto is most definitely more quality over quantity. There are essential pieces you should try to have in your wardrobe for each season. These are pieces that are on trend for summer and will provide a basic foundation for your summer wardrobe.  With statement necklaces and accessories, you could wear the same dress four times and have a different look each time. I am sharing my go-to essential pieces for summer time.

White Jeans

White Jeans make a crisp statement and pair well with everything from neutrals to pastels to brights. I cannot IMAGINE my spring and summer wardrobe without them. It is important to find a pair that fits well and the material is thick enough that you can’t see through it. They’re such a great alternative than the regular blue jeans and they literally go with any and everything! I found these from Nordstrom’s for under $40 and they are super comfy. I’ve found similar pairs here and here. You can style them with other neutral pieces and create a very airy and light outfit.

 Maxi Dress

Maxi Dress – There’s a reason the maxi is one of my favorite summer staples. They’re universally flattering, cool (in more ways than one!) and ridiculously comfortable. I’d say that’s winning in the most fashionable sense. If you’re lucky enough to have a relaxed dress code at work, go for one that’s comfy yet flattering. If you live in a warmer part of the country like I do, spaghetti straps are your friend. I picked up this maxi dress from TJ Maxx and I am obsessed with the bright color.

Bright Blazer

Blazers: Enjoy your day to day attire with a bright colorful blazer to achieve such a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Wear it with neutral, simple pieces and let the blazer shine. A piece of blazer in leopard, floral, tribal, paisley, or other prints work perfectly with any outfit you wish to wear. Pair it with pieces in solid colors or do print matching accordingly. My favorite is a cute blazer with cut off shorts.

 Over-the-shoulder Tops

Over-the-shoulder tops: While this summer trend may not exactly be fit for the workplace, it’s a weekend and after-hours staple this season. By showing off your neckline and shoulders, an off-the-shoulder top is sexy and flirty while still leaving enough to the imagination. Don’t go too tight with this trend: The looser, bohemian look is the way to go. Whether you’re headed to a concert, brunch with the girls or just a day of shopping it is the perfect summer top.

For the weekend, this top looks best with denim or more casual bottoms, but some sexier and more tailored styles look equally amazing with a pair of trousers or date-night mini. Go for everything from silk to cotton, dramatic shaped sleeves to short eyelet ruffles.

 Casual Dress

 Striped dress: A casual striped t-shirt dress is the perfect summer staple. Great for a day of errands or lunch with friends. Pair with cute summer sandals or a fedora for a day outside. This dress paired with a military style vest adds a casual feel to such a simple staple.
